I heard much about this author from my other blogger friends and how he published three books in the Blog Chatter EBook Carnival. So it kind of spiked my interest to read his blogs. But the hectic schedule of conceptualizing, writing, and reading friends’ blogs during A2Z didn’t give me sufficient time to read his blogs. So I waited for the book, My Land across the Border to come out.
As told earlier by my friends, Sayan is the one who never disappoints us. So he came up with a very professional book cover (I can confidently say it’s one of the best in the EBook Carnival), which piqued my interest further.
So I downloaded his book on day 1 itself and finished it reading in a single go. Normally, I prefer sitting with a physical book in my hands. The touch and feel of the pages give me some satisfaction. But believe me, I am not exaggerating, I didn’t miss that feeling with this EBook as the tale is too riveting.
Review of My Land across the Border:
Coming to the review, this is the story about two individuals, how they would try to deal with their past, and the repercussions that arise due to it. The main protagonist in the story wants to uncover the mysteries in those two people’s past so that he can understand them better.
The emotions are so intense that, at times, I had to pause to rethink those emotions, and the scenes that have been described also have equal depth. Coming from this era, understanding the political scenario at the time of the partition of Bangladesh is a little difficult to understand, as the novel captures actual day-to-day happenings that are not seen in any of the history books. But that’s the beauty of this book, as Sayan does it with such ease, which proves the fact that he is an excellent storyteller.
Pros:
This book gives a detailed insight into the actual happenings at the time of the partition of Bangladesh and also captures the individual plight in a detailed way that one can feel that he got time ported to that era easily.
The reader can never be a third party in this gripping tale as we easily get into the mind of the main protagonist’s (Siraj) shoes effortlessly. The reader can feel all his emotions very easily.
The surprise element is too good. I am unwilling to give away more details as the readers must read it themselves to understand the surprise element.
Cons:
Though the book is good on the overall perspective and ties all the loose ends. I felt a little unhappy as Mrinal’s character was very small and occupied little space in the story. I was craving to read more about him. Maybe Sayan would come up with a sequel about Mrinal at a later date.
Conclusion:
All in all, this book is one of the best books in the Blog Chatter EBook Carnival and worth reading it and sharing it with other friends for their read. Honestly, Sayan has not disappointed us with the gripping tale of “My Land Across the Border” this time.
